El joven era realmente una oruga y la mujer quedó embarazada después de un año no daba a luz. Finalmente la mujer murió porque la madre mató a todas las orugas que habían salido de su vientre. This myth tells the story of how a single woman, while she was participating in a ceremony, me a strange young man and had sexual relations with him. The young man was really a catepillar in human form. The woman became pregnant, but after a year had still now given birth. Finally the woman dies when her mother kills all the catepillars that have sprung from her womb.

Descripción del Proyecto:	Proyecto de Documentación Shuar nace con la iniciativa de jóvenes shuar con el objetivo de investigar, documentar, fortalecer la cultura y el idioma "shuar chicham", además para generar profesionales shuar en el área de la lingüística, con la finalidad de que los shuar lleven adelante todo el proceso de investigación. Esta iniciativa se da inicio en el año 2006 por la iniciativa de Tuntiak Katan y con el apoyo personal de la Dr. Connie Dickinson, y en 2009 se obtiene 30 horas de video transcritas, traducidas en programa ELAN. A mediados de 2009 con el apoyo personal de Mauricio Negere y Connie Dickinson se continúa con el proceso iniciado en los años anteriores. En abril del 2010 con el financiamiento de National Science Foundation, se da inicio otro periodo de documentación, aquí se hace énfasis en las grabaciones realizadas entre los años 1955 a 1965 por el misionero salesiano P. Siro Pellizaro, que son una colección de cintas antiguas. El rescate de estas cintas será de vital importancia, ya que la información contenida en las cintas pueden ser reveladoras de algunos mitos, costumbres, tradiciones, ritos y todo la cosmovivencia de la nación Shuar. Entre los jóvenes shuar que emprendieron están: Como iniciador Tuntiak Katan quien está trabando en este proceso investigativo desde 2006 y continuará en el proyecto como una parte fundamental de su trabajo profesional. Kenia Unkuch, una mujer shuar que está identificada con su cultura y está trabajando desde 2008. Doris Atsamp, Carmen Atsamp y Saida Unkuch quienes son mujeres jóvenes profesionales identificadas y comprometidos con su cultura. Del mismo modo en el presente proyecto se involucrarán otros jóvenes identificados con su cultura, que van empezar con la documentación de su propia cultura con esperanza de que ellos se especialicen en áreas de Lingüística y Antropología. The Shuar Documentation Project began with an initative by a group of young Shuar with the objective of investigating, documenting and fortalizing the culture and language “Shuar Chicham”, as well as training young Shuar in linguistics and ethnographic research so they can carry on the work themselves. This initative began in 2006 with the personal assistance of Dr. Connie Dickinson and by 2009 we had already collected some 30 hours of videos, transcribed and translated into Spanish in the computer program ELAN. The work continued in 2009 with further assistance from Maurizio Negere. In May 2010 with a generous grant from the National Science Foundation of the United States we began the second phase of the project, this time with an enfasis on the transcription and translation of audio tapes recorded between the years 1955 to 1965 by the Salesian missionary P. Siro Pellizaro. The preservation and archiving of these recordings is of vital importance, in that the information contained in these recordings includes myths, customs, traditions and rituals that have disappeared from the present day collective consciousness of the Shuar. The young Shuar involved in the project include: Tuntiak Katan, that has worked with Dr. Dickinson since the beginning of the project and is the field director for the new project; Kenia Unkuch, a young Shuar woman who has worked on the project since 2008. We are presently training a new young group of Shuar in the technology and expertise necessary to carry out a large documentation project.
